Soan papri is a popular Punjabi dessert. It is usually cube-shaped and has a crisp and flaky texture. It was traditionally sold loose in a rolled paper cone, but modern industrial production has led it to be sold in tightly formed cubes. It is believed that it originated in India, Maharashtra. However, its place of origin is still a contested area. It is highly popular in Punjab, Gujarat, UP and Rajasthan. Due to its popularity it is now available in various flavors and colors. Main ingredients of it like sugar, gram flour, ghee, milk and cardamom remain the same.
